If you have signed up for, or are considering, TELUS Optik TV, you should know about this TELUS initiative whereby certain charitable organizations can benefit from your enrolment!
TELUS is partnering with local charitable organizations through TELUS Fibre for Good Powell River. When residents sign up for Optik TV on the fibre network, they select a participating charitable organization to receive a $25 grant on their behalf, courtesy of TELUS. PRISMA is one of the approved charities. The program ends on November 15, 2015, or once the program reaches a maximum of $10,000.
We are very excited to announce that Elmira Darvarova, former concertmaster of the Metropolitan Opera New York, will join PRISMA 2015. PRISMA is excited to announce the famous Canadian cellist Amanda Forsyth as a guest artist at PRISMA 2015. Forsyth will perform the second cello concerto of Victor Herbert with the Pacific Philharmonic on June 27. She will also take part in the chamber music concert with the c minor string quartet of Johannes Brahms with the other string faculty.

Arthur Arnold made his conducting debut with the visiting Moscow Symphony Orchestra in 2001 at Amsterdam’s prestigious Concertgebouw, where the conductor famously descends through the audience on a staircase from the balcony level, then through the orchestra and over to the podium, surrounded by applause and anticipation. It was an extraordinary moment for Mr. Arnold, who, as a 14-year-old, had snuck into the same hall – darkened – and stood on the podium, dreaming of this.

The Pacific Region International Summer Music Academy (PRISMA) offers a two week program that prepares music students and young professionals for a career in music performance. It is designed to assist students to obtain the necessary tools to win a position in a professional orchestra.
PRISMA students work with internationally-renowned artists from the world’s finest symphony orchestras. During the program students are immersed in intensive orchestral training, and enjoy chamber music concerts by the outstanding faculty.
PRISMA takes place in the stunning setting of the British Columbian coastal town Powell River, the perfect setting for music-making.
Affordable Half Fellowships
PRISMA offers half fellowships to all students who are accepted to the program in 2016. The program tuition fee of $575 (instead of the previous $1150) gives this year's PRISMA students a unique opportunity to work with the elite musicians of the faculty.
